In life and finance the name of the game is return on investment. Anytime you spend your time or definitely your hard-earned money you expect to get something back - whether it’s more money or just the satisfaction of ownership.
I found a great site on investing that will help investors gather the right information before they commit any of their precious seed capital to an idea or a company.
The site is wikinvest.com. The article I found and read on the site is aboutResearch on Nike. I liked the insight it gave. Specifically, I learned from the article that one big reason Nike is a sound investment is its heavy emphasis on maintaining the strength of its brand through large investments in advertising and sponsoring of marquee athletes (think Michael Jordan).
The thing that sets wikinvest.com apart from other investing information sites is that it puts the information in terms a layperson can understand, but it also covers all bases. In the Nike Research article I found both qualitative and quantitative information about the company and its stock. I found myself wondering how many people they have to employ in order to cover the depth of information that they do.
The only thing I’d say to the owners of this site is they might benefit from adding a “Beginners” area to the site where first-time investors could educate themselves about the basic principles of investing.
