Choosing the Right Business Partner Makes All the Difference

Have you been warned about business partnerships? No? Then let me warn you, or encourage you, depending on how you look at it.

First let me say that choosing a business partner is not about working with a buddy. It’s about finding someone whose skills and traits complement yours (note I didn’t say they match yours). If you’re an idea person, you may need to partner with a doer. If you’re a doer, find a visionary.

Beyond choosing someone with the right traits, you need to find someone who can match your work ethic and your determination. I guess the first part of that is making sure you have some work ethic and determination yourself. Then you’re in a position to work with the right kind of person.
