Have you been warned about business partnerships? No? Then let me warn you, or encourage you, depending on how you look at it.

First let me say that choosing a business partner is not about working with a buddy. It’s about finding someone whose skills and traits complement yours (note I didn’t say they match yours). If you’re an idea person, you may need to partner with a doer. If you’re a doer, find a visionary.

Beyond choosing someone with the right traits, you need to find someone who can match your work ethic and your determination. I guess the first part of that is making sure you have some work ethic and determination yourself. Then you’re in a position to work with the right kind of person.

How does it relate to getting up earlier? I put that quote here to illustrate the fact that most people don’t have a good sense of what they can accomplish in a given period of time. The fact is, an hour is more time than you think.

If you will 80/20 your day as I’ve advised before, and add that to getting up an hour earlier, I will bet that you get more done in that one hour than you usually get done in a day. Try it out and you’ll see.
